What Is a Root Canal?
A root canal is a form of dental treatment in which a decayed root is removed in order to save the tooth from needing to be extracted entirely. This procedure has a bad reputation for being painful but our dentists handle it with the utmost caution.
When Is a Dental Implant Necessary?
A dental implant may be necessary if you have lost one or more teeth and your speech or eating ability has been affected. We can do a thorough examination of your mouth and existing teeth to determine if you are a good candidate for implants.
How Do You Fill Cavities?
When decay takes over and a cavity forms, it is important that you have it treated right away. In the past, amalgam was the only way to fill cavities, which was a health risk and unsightly. We typically fill cavities using a tooth-colored material rather than metal.
When Should Teeth be Extracted?
There are a number of reasons why you may need to have a tooth extracted. Certain people may be prone to decay or you may have had a tooth damaged in an accident. Teeth may also need to be extracted if they are impacted or there is not enough room.
What Cosmetic Treatments Do You Offer?
Our cosmetic dental treatments may include teeth whitening and teeth straightening, including Invisalign. We can meet with you to determine what type of cosmetic treatment is best for you.

What Causes Tooth Decay?Tooth decay is caused by bacteria that collect on our teeth and feed on the carbohydrates and sugars in our diet. If left undisturbed, the bacteria produce an acid that slowly erodes the enamel of our teeth, leading to pain, infections, or even total tooth loss. To protect your teeth against tooth decay, it is recommended you brush your teeth at least twice a day, floss daily, avoid sugary foods, and visit your dentist regularly for oral checkups.
How Often Should I Change My Toothbrush? It is generally recommended to replace your toothbrush once every three months, or sooner if the bristles are visibly worn or frayed. Clinical research has shown that a new toothbrush can remove more plaque than one that is worn out, ensuring your toothbrush is always working at its hardest to keep your teeth clean and healthy. It is also a good idea to change your toothbrush after being sick with a cold or bacterial infection.
Why Is My Mouth Always Dry?Dry mouth is a condition that is caused by a lack of oral saliva. Proper saliva flow is crucial to help minimize bacterial growth and to clean away food debris. Common causes of dry mouth include certain medications, tobacco use, and certain diseases. If you suffer from dry mouth, our dentists can help you understand your treatment options and help you find a solution that is best for you.
I’m Afraid of Going to the Dentist – What Should I Do?If you are fearful of going to the dentist, know you are not alone; as many as 15% percent of Americans avoid dental checkups due to anxiety or fear. This is why it is crucial to find a dentist that you are comfortable with and can trust. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and let them know exactly what your fears are so they can work with you to make you feel more comfortable. At Boulevard Dental, we take the time to listen to our patients concerns and go above and beyond to provide a positive and relaxed experience for our patients every time.
